Coop Aurora Alimentos is a cooperative of more than 5,200 poultry-farming families in Paraná. We run the hatchery, feed mill, plants and cold stores ourselves.

The cooperative began when farming families in Paraná grew tired of selling birds into a market that set the price for them. By pooling the hatchery, then the feed mill, then the processing plants, they took control of every stage — and of the margin.
That structure is why the spec holds. A farmer who owns a share of the plant has no incentive to send it a substandard flock.
Forty-two families pool capital to stop buying day-old chicks at whatever price the market asked.
Controlling feed means controlling the bird: non-GMO corn and soy, no growth-promoting antibiotics.
